Zelenskyy Urges Europe to Utilize Frozen Russian Assets for Ukraine

Zelenskyy described his meeting with Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof as “very good” and “substantive,” expressing gratitude to the Netherlands for its consistent support since the beginning of Russia’s invasion. “I would like to express special gratitude for the recent defense package -- €700 million for defense,” he noted.
He also highlighted the Netherlands’ support for the Priotrized Ukrain Requirements List (PURL) initiative, a NATO- and US-coordinated program supplying Kyiv with US-made arms and ammunition, which would enable Ukraine to acquire US-manufactured weapons, including air defense missiles not available in Europe.
The president added that both nations are exploring joint defense production, “in particular the production of modern drones in Ukraine and the Netherlands,” emphasizing that “every step of support right now carries particular significance.”
During a diplomatic conference in The Hague, Zelenskyy attended a session with Schoof, Moldovan President Maia Sandu, and Council of Europe Secretary General Alain Berset aimed at creating the International Claims Commission for Ukraine.
He explained that the commission would address claims for damages and losses caused by Russia’s actions, underscoring that “justice is just as important as peace.”
